Departing Queenstown the journey begins with a stunning ride between the Remarkable mountain range and shores of Lake Wakatipu with views across the water to the rugged Eyre Mountains beyond. After the small township of Kingston at the end of the lake we follow a broad valley south until we turn west towards Te Anau at the end of the Eyre Mountains.

The landscape changes markedly here as the highway follows the Southland syncline, a colossal fold in the earth's surface. This is heartland sheep, cattle and deer farming country bordered by the Eyre Mountains on the right and the hills of the White Hill wind farm on the left. The landscapes changes once again nearing Te Anau with views towards the granite mountains of Fiordland National Park.

After a refreshment stop in Te Anau the journey continues northward towards Milford Sound along the eastern shores of Lake Te Anau. The Milford highway enters Fiordland National Park via the Eglington Valley and arguable the start of the most stunning and majestic portion of the trip. Some would say this is one of the world's most spectacular drives.

Along the way numerous stops will be made for photos and short nature walks. Arriving at Milford Sound we'll drop you off at the Cruize Milford counter where you'll depart on a cruise of Milford Sound that travels the length of the fiord to the Tasman Sea stopping by some of the outstanding nature features, waterfalls and seal colonies during the cruise.

Come and join our Eco Experience to Milford Sound

We will pick you up from your accommodation at 8.15am. Our first stop is for breakfast in Te Anau followed by a visit to the Bird Wildlife Park. This gives you a chance to see our rare New Zealand birds. We then make our way to the Fiordland National Park.

With the most picture stops along the way and many nature walks you`ll get to experience the beauty of the area.

We link up with the 3.15pm cruise aboard the Milford Adventurer which is one of the smallest vessels operating on the Sound. This gives you an up close and personal experience to take in the magnificent views of the fiord and enjoy complimentary coffee & tea and a delicious muffin.

We allow time for dinner in Te Anau on the return, so sit back and enjoy a movie on the trip back to Queenstown on our on-board cinema. We will drop you off at your accommodation in Queenstown around 9.00pm.
